Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner
Jerilyn (Jeri) Farmer attended the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. While earning her first bachelor’s degree, she was a member of the Dixie Darlings, the Symphonic Band, and the feature twirler for the Pride of Mississippi Marching Band. Jeri graduated with Honors with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Sports Medicine with an emphasis in exercise science in 1995.
Jeri’s interest in cardiac care was strengthened through her clinical experience in exercise physiology with cardiac rehabilitation. At the urging of her mentor, Jeri returned to school, earning her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing with Honors from the University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park campus in 1999. After working as a Registered Nurse in a Post Cardiac Unit / ICU, home health, and as director for the Medicaid Waiver program, she returned to cardiac care. Jeri came to the Ocean Springs SMHC location in 2002, as Director of Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
With a desire to help her patients achieve their health and fitness goals, she returned to the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, earning a Master’s of Science in Nursing with Honors in 2010. After completing the American Association of Nurse Practitioners national board certification for Family Nurse Practitioners, Jeri returned to SMHC, working with staff and patients to promote cardiovascular health and fitness.
